Seward Park: Sunshine & Native Plants

We continued our tradition of native plant exploration in Seattle’s jewel of a park- Seward Park. The Audubon society there has a great assortment of native NW plants. It’s pretty cool to take field trips on the 2nd and 3rd days of school- especially in the middle of the incredible heat wave we are having.

1st Kindergarten garden visit! Taste test delicousness.

Marletta’s kindergarten class came out for a sunshine filled visit. They got a tasty walking tour of the garden. We picked carrots & cherry tomatoes. It really is amazing to see these students harvesting carrots & tomatoes and getting a real understanding of where food comes from. Then we filled up envelopes with anything and everything that smells good and tastes even better. We picked mint, rosemary, fruit sages, Vietnamese cilantro, calendula, cosmos, lavender, and green beans. Welcome to Orca kiddoes.
